Upper Deck Series One Hits the Shelves

Upper Deck Series One Hits the Shelves

It’s been a busy week at Players Choice Sports with 2019-20 Upper Deck Series One hitting the shelves. The most popular Upper Deck product ramps up with a 250-card set, with 198 base cards to go with 49 Young Guns (1:4 packs) and three checklist cards. For Upper Deck’s 30th anniversary, there are also some special inserts featuring three of the company’s top superstars of the past three decades. Look for inserts of Wayne Gretzky, Connor McDavid, and Patrick Roy featuring retro base designs celebrating these legendary stars.

Year in and year out, Series One attracts collectors of all ages and interest levels. From the casual collector to the die-hard fan who has been adding Young Guns since Pavel Bure strapped on a pair of rollerblades, the fans of the game and the hobby keep coming back for more. This year is no exception, as the Day With The Cup inserts will feature first-time Cup Champions the St. Louis Blues, while popular acetate cards like the Clear Cut Foundations and Cup Coronations can be found. The Young Guns rookie cards are the staple piece for any collector, and this year’s class features the likes of Jack Hughes (2019 #1 overall draft pick), the first-ever draft choice of the Vegas Golden Knights Cody Glass, and Ryan Poehling of the Canadiens, who scored a hat trick in his first NHL game.

Players Choice hosted its break night on release day, and we had a fantastic time with about 25 of our dedicated collectors. We broke a number of cases of the product and saw some great cards getting pulled throughout the evening. The Young Guns featuring Quinn and Jack Hughes were the most popular of the night, and one of our collectors got to take home a Ryan Poehling Clear Cut parallel. One of the rarest pulls of the evening was a High Gloss parallel of San Jose Sharks rookie Danil Yurtaykin, #’d to just 10 copies.

In addition to the break night, we saw a number of other box and case breaks on Thursday, and some great pulls from collectors. We know a three-colour patch #’d to 15 copies of Shea Weber ended up in good hands at the end of the night, too! As always, Upper Deck provided us with a number of prizes to give away to friends throughout the night. Autographed hats of future superstars were given away, adding an extra layer of fun for everybody in the house.

Thank you to all of our friends and fans who came by on Thursday night to celebrate the release of Series One with us. We hope you had a great time, got some great cards for your collections, and look forward to the next great event.
